About the Application role

The Application role provides the following services:

• HTTP Apache 2.4 (opens new window), LiteSpeed (opens new window), OpenLiteSpeed (opens new window) or Nginx (opens new window)
• PHP FPM or LSPHP (one per website, where the website has PHP enabled)
• Screenshotd (opens new window) (internal Enhance service responsible for maintaining a screenshot of website added to the platform)
• FTP (pure-ftpd)
• Filerd (internal Enhance service which powers the web based file manager)

When installing the application role, you can choose your preferred webserver (Apache, LiteSpeed, OpenLiteSpeed, or Nginx). This selection is per-role, allowing you to run different webservers across your Enhance cluster. Additionally, you can switch the webserver kind at any time without requiring manual configuration changes.
